Facing the Facts

Every hour, at least 4,500 acres of forest fall to chain saws, machetes, flames, or bulldozers. Deforestation is a problem we all face no matter where we live.

The United States has less than 5% of the world's population yet consumes more than 30% of the world's paper

Deforestation Affects the Economy

Deforestation is not only a horrible environmental problem, it effects the economy as well. When trees are cut down in massive quantities the land they once stood on becomes infertile. Crops can't be grown. The agricultural industry is a massive business animal that affects all countries of the world. If crops can't be grown due to deforestation, the entire world economy is subject to crumble.
This graphic proves that the economy and deforestation are directly related...

What Do We Do

If we devise a world wide network between all countries (similar to World War II's NATO or our modern UN) that would regulate on a case-by-case basis the balance of deforestation vs. reforestation, then the problems can begin to be solved.

Each country would agree to the most basic of solutions; plant two trees for every one cut down. This would not only maintain but replenish the forests, creating a safer future for all humanity.

If we choose to do nothing, our world as we know it will cease to exist. We need action, we need government officials to take a stance and save the planet for the future. Humans leave a foot print the size of a yeti as compared to most other species' ant sized footprint. Things need to change before it becomes too late to change them.
